Burn O’Vat is located close to Loch Kinord, near the village of Dinnet. It was formed by glacial melt water and is a large granite cauldron, home to the Vat Burn and its beautiful waterfall.
You can feel the rock walls swallow you up , cutting you off from the outside world as you scramble into the cauldron , following in the footsteps of Queen Victoria.
You can walk through some of Deeside’s prettiest woodlands and picnic by the loch. The trail to Burn O’Vat is just under one mile.
The Nature Scot visitor centre explores how the different elements of the reserve evolved and how the lochs were formed . The centre is rated Gold as part of the Green Tourism Business Scheme
